Bringing Hope to Delaney Hall (8/9/2025)
On Saturday, August 9th members of Cooper River Indivisible joined the immigration committee for a day of bringing hope to the families of people detained at Delaney Hall. Members of CRI brought up donated items like water, snacks and umbrellas for people who were waiting in the sunshine all day to get their chance to see their relatives who are being detained. We also had gift cards to help families whose breadwinners are no longer able to provide for the family. Others brought supplies up for the children who are affected by this heartless policy.
While we were up there trying to do what we could for these families, the police from Newark began to ticket and tow the cars of the people who were visiting their friends and loved ones. Members of CRI did what they could to help move cars and work with the authorities to show mercy to these people.
The immigration committee wants to thank all of the people who donated items and/or came up to the Hall to help distribute these donations.
